5-Ingredient Malted Milk Ball Dessert

5-Ingredient Malted Milk Ball Dessert

This easy 9×13 dessert combines whole malted milk balls with a few pantry staples for a gooey, chocolatey treat. Everything goes into one baking dish, making cleanup easy.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups whole malted milk balls
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a clear 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
  2. Add the malted milk balls directly to the bottom of the dish. Spread them into a fairly even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the malted milk balls. Don’t prepare the cake mix according to the box directions; use it dry.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  5. Pour the condensed milk slowly over the top. Try to distribute it evenly rather than pouring it all in one spot.
  6. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the edges are bubbling and the top looks set. The center can remain slightly soft because it will firm up as it cools.
  8. Cool for at least 15–20 minutes before serving. The melted candy will be extremely hot straight from the oven.

Serving

Scoop it while still slightly warm and serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. The malted milk balls create pockets of rich chocolate-malt flavor throughout the dessert.
