My nana taught me this hack to make dusty blinds sparkle in 2 mins with 0 work. Here’s how it works

Posted on January 17, 2026 by Admin

My nana was way ahead of her time with this one ✨
This trick makes dusty blinds sparkle in about 2 minutes with almost no effort.

🪟 Nana’s 2-Minute Blind-Cleaning Hack

What you need (nothing fancy):

  • 1 old sock (or microfiber cloth)
  • A bowl of warm water
  • 1 tsp dish soap
  • Optional: splash of white vinegar or fabric softener (for shine)

How it works:

  1. Slip the sock over your hand
This lets you grab both sides of each blind at once.
  2. Dip & wring
Dip the sock in the soapy water and wring it out well — damp, not dripping.
  3. Wipe once
Slide your hand along each slat one time.
Dust, grease, and grime come off instantly.
  4. Done
No rinsing, no streaks, no climbing, no vacuum.

✨ Why this works so well

  • The sock creates light friction without scratching
  • Dish soap cuts through greasy dust
  • Vinegar or fabric softener leaves blinds shiny and dust-repellent

Bonus Nana Tip 🧠

For really dusty blinds, do one quick dry wipe first with a dry sock — then the damp one. Still under 2 minutes.

If you want, I can:

  • Adapt it for wood, metal, or fabric blinds

Just say the word 😉
